I love this time of year especially in the theatre.
Pantomime season!! Brilliant!!
A wonderful time when all members of the family can come and enjoy a laugh together. A superb reminder that the best things don’t change much. The stories told in modern pantomimes are virtually the same as the ones we heard as a child. Our pantomime is the tale of Red Riding Hood and so you would expect to hear the line, “What big eyes you’ve got”. You won’t be disappointed.
That’s the best part of pantomime. The stories are well known and so parents and grandparents will all have fun, telling the young children the tale. That’s how the excitement builds. There is the expectation of hearing a familiar tale fairly certain of a happy ending and enjoying laughter and music on the way but coupled with the hope that something fresh and unexpected will enhance the tale.
Again, you won’t be disappointed!
For here is where Jack and Jill live and it’s their job to keep the village supplied with water. This is where the three pigs ended up when the big bad wolf blew their houses down. This is where the forest fairy decides “enough is enough”.
Of course, you would expect to find Red Riding Hood’s granny living a quiet peaceful life in a cottage in the woods…..but not this granny!!
Together with Red’s mother, Dame Hood, Billy and his father, Thomas the woodcutter, Goldilocks, oh and of course, not forgetting the Big Bad Wolf; all are here to make this hilarious show exciting from beginning to end
